diffusing your oils

the best way to reap the results of your oils is through inhalation of the vapors.  a wonderful way to do this is with the help of a diffuser.  i currently use doTERRA's petal diffuser that came with my kit upon signing up to become a wellness advocate (WA) with them.  it is a wonderful diffuser that puts out a nice, strong mist.  perfect for a smallish space like a bedroom or in your kitchen!

the petal diffuser can be set to 1, 2, or 4 hour settings for a constant mist throughout your living space!  there is also a light function that can be turned on (allowing for a lovely night light) or off, depending on your preference.

there are so many recipes to try in your diffuser!  i am loving some already.  my favorite oil diffusion blend for first thing in the morning is peppermint and wild orange!  what a pick-me-up!!  after i've taken the kiddos to school and need a little "me" time, i love to diffuse doTERRA's balance blend and elevation! the scent is light and refreshing.  for night time, my go-to blend is balance and serenity.  there is this lovely vanilla aroma that mixes with the other scents that is just calming and soothing as i go to sleep.  BLISS!

you can check out my pinterest board for other diffusing ideas and inspirations that i've come across from other mommas too!

dilution is delightful

once you have your oils, it's logical to stare at them all pretty in their little bottles and think to yourself, "now how the heck do i use these things?"  at least, that's what i did!  so i started doing a little research and asked people in my EO network how best to use these beneficial oils!  two main ways are by applying them to your skin and by diffusing.  making up a little roller bottle of an oil blend sounded like so much fun (waaaay too much fun, by the way!  i could make these little roller bottles all day long!), so naturally i wanted to get right on that.

i had been reading up on essential oil safety and came to find that dilution is a very important step in oil use safety.  most oil companies, reps, etc will definitely advocate for dilution; however, some say that it is okay to apply "neat" or without a carrier oil.  and while i imagine that for the majority of the people, this would seem harmless, it seems to me (and reading where this was the case for some people) that prolonged use of an oil "neat" will lead to sensitization or other issues / irritations.  also, if someone happens to have a sensitivity to an oil,  applying it "neat" could cause damage to their skin.  therefore, the safest application would be diluted in a carrier oil.  carrier oils also help to get the oils into your body by slowing the evaporation process as they are absorbed into your body!  and there are so many options for carrier oils that can provide all sorts of different properties too!  but i'll get into that in a later post.

there are many dilution ratios out there on how many drops of oil to carrier oil.  with a little research (and i'm doing more and more every day!) i have found that you can get away with a far less amount of oil and that it is much safer to do so.  i found a great chart that shows the number of drops of oil per mL container used.  SO easy!  and it was created by a very reputable source in the essential oil community, Robert Tisserand.  so not only does diluting to these ratios make for a much safer usage, but it will also save you money because you will be using less oil!  YAY!

so after you are armed with your favorite blend of oils, some roller bottles, and carrier oil of choice, you can use this chart as a guideline to create safe and delicious smelling roller blends!  i know i'm already thinking of the next great blend to try!

oobiebean & dolly excitement!

i am so excited to have scored a custom slot with oobiebean&dolly for my tula accessories!!  i love their work and can't wait to get it all back!  of course, i haven't even sent the wrap scrap in yet, so i am a tad ahead of myself.

i have asked them an embarrassing amount of questions, including whether they can make a little elephant lovey similar to one i saw from another momma's facebook post (awesome work Jen Hemann!.  here they are!

i was going to try and make one myself before i got this spot with oobiebean!  but now i'll see if they can re-create it.  their work is so amazing, i'm sure they can!

anyway, i don't know how long it takes, but soon(ish) i will have my accessories for this beauty!!  (the tula, i'm not that vain)

a christmas diy!

i just love pinterest.  i love getting holiday inspiration and i try to accomplish at least one or two of my favorites.  well, i completed my first of the season!  i absolutely adored the look of these white christmas ornaments from bazar & co with festive words and stars on them!

white christmas boules collection

i knew that i could turn this into a diy with some plain white christmas ornaments and a paint pen!  i love the writing font as well, so i tried to copy it as close as i could while still keeping it easy and free-handing it.

well, i couldn't be happier with the results!!  it took hardly any time at all...perhaps 20 minutes at the most.  i can't wait to put these into a cute little container and display them for the holidays!

i'm tempted to pick up a few more and go to town making a bunch of these babies!  what do you think?

crowd tap and free snacks for the kiddos!

i was selected to try out a new product from the Lunchables line of pre-packed snacks through crowdtap.  they are called Lunchables Jr.  they have several flavors and i was able to try out two of them.  the flavors we received were "ants on a log", which contained peanut butter, sun-maid raisins, and honey graham sticks.  delish!!  the second flavor was "very beary crunch", which contained ritz bits cheese cracker sandwiches, strawberry flavored dried apple pieces, and teddy grahams honey graham snacks.  wow!

since i have two girls and only received two snacks to sample, i had my girls try the snacks.  they had a blast trying out the little packages and shared them between the two.  they seemed to enjoy both flavors too!  i definitely hope to get a chance to try out more of the flavors...but i haven't actually seen these in any of my stores yet!!

thank you crowdtap for the chance to try something easy and fun!!
